World Dreams - Ancient Egyptians

The Egyptians also try to discover the myth behind the dreams because all the leaders of egypt took actions acording to there dreams and also believed that the gods reveal themselves in dreams. They even had a dream god called: "Serapis", they built him temples and they went there to sleep if they were looking for some answers from the god, because dreams where caused by real things unable to be interpreted or controlled by the conscious mind.


Egyptians thought that the dream simulate death so they even slept in tombs, and others were killed by their sleep in order to live in the other world - to be close to their gods. It considered as the best way to receive divine revelation was via dreaming and thus the Egyptians would induce or "incubate" dreams.


Dreams were a very important, and indeed, sacred part of the Egyptian culture. And this cultural belief spread. And also documented, as far back as 2000 BC the Egyptians wrote down their dreams on papyrus.
